TSB x BlueCity: Equinox Sunrise Yoga
On Friday 23rd of September, the sun is directly above the equator: this is called the equinox. To celebrate this event, BlueCity organises in cooperation with The Solar Biennale Sunrise Yoga sessions and an Equinox Ceremony.
On September 23, we celebrate with a Sunrise Yoga session at BlueCity. During the magical hour from 7am to 8am (The sun rises at 7:28am), YG Studios will take you through a series of sun salutations. This 60 min session brings peace, awareness and relaxation and combines breathing exercises with meditation. The event is free, but not without reservation. Secure your spot here.
An equinox (Latin: aequinoctium, equal night) (also: equinox or day-and-night equinox) is a time in the year when the sun is perpendicular to the equator. At the time of the equinox, the length of day and night is roughly equal everywhere on earth - namely half a day - and the sun rises exactly in the east. In natural religions, the celebration of the equinox is still very common. This is not surprising, as these are the celestial bodies that clearly have a direct influence on life on earth. After all, the position of the sun and moon in relation to the earth determine day and night, the seasons and the tides.
