Roebyem Anders calls herself a "solar warrior" and "was sustainable before the word became hip". She has been active in the renewable energy industry for over 20 years, among others at the VI/Institute for Environmental Studies, the climate department of the World Bank and the Renewable Energy Unit of the International Energy Agency. In 2012 she founded Zonline, which was later taken over by the American company Sungevity. Sungevity's mission is to cover all roofs of the Netherlands with solar panels.
